How to Make a Tyvek Kite

The August 2010 issue of Popular Mechanics contained a DIY article on How to Make a Kite from Tyvek. The piece from the President of the American Kitefliers Association (Barbara Meyer) describes how to make a Tyvek box kite without doing any sewing; it suggests using tape instead. The Tyvek is used for the kite skin.

If you want to buy some Tyvek to make a kite, Material Concepts now offers various Tyvek odd lots, over runs and other excess inventory for sale online. You can view all Tyvek inventory that is currently available. All material is authentic Dupont™ Tyvek® product resulting from converting operations at Material Concepts. And unlike Tyvek used in building construction, it is unprinted.

And if you do want to sew the Tyvek for kites, banners or other projects, Material Concepts provides instructions on how to sew Tyvek, or download this PDF.
